FlexProfessionals offers “hands-on” workshops to support your job search efforts.  Workshops are limited in size to maximize learning, group discussion, and information sharing.  They are geared towards professionals who have taken a career break and professionals in career transition.  All workshops are designed to provide practical job search resources and an opportunity for job seekers to meet and interact with FlexProfessionals staff.

STRATEGIES FOR RE-ENTERING THE WORKFORCE AFTER A CAREER BREAK

Thinking about re-entering the workforce but not sure where to start? This info-packed session is for you! You will learn about today’s job market and hiring trends, top challenges re-entry professionals face and ways to address them, useful on-line resources to help you explore careers and update or maintain your skills, effective job search strategies for professionals like you, and many other tips for re-entering the workforce after a career break, including how to transition to a new career. Our goal is for you to leave this workshop energized and confident to begin your job search! This session is also great for professionals who, having recently left the workforce, are in full “mommy or daddy mode” but want to maintain their professional identity too. Attire: business casual.

**NEW** TWO-PART SERIES: DEVELOP A COMPELLING RESUME (PART I) & RESUME REVIEW (PART II)

Part I of this workshop consists of a morning of resume tips, strategies and best practices that will help you catch the attention of a Hiring Manager.  We will break down the resume development process step by step, and you will leave this workshop with lots of concrete resources from which to write a compelling resume.  Attire:  business casual.

Part II of the workshop will take place one week later, allowing participants time to work on their resumes using strategies, tips and resources introduced in Part I of the workshop.  Each participant will sign up for a 30 minute, in-person meeting to review your individual resume and discuss issues and concerns specific to your career story. You may come with a “final draft”, “work in progress”, or no resume at all.  We will discuss your skills, experiences and work preferences and make suggestions for how to best promote yourself in a resume format.  Interviews will take place between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. A link to an interview sign-up schedule will be emailed to you a few days prior to the workshop, and interview times will be confirmed at the workshop.

Date:  Monday, May 8, 2017 (Part 1) and Monday, May 15, 2017 (Part II)

Getting ready to re-enter the workforce? Make LinkedIn your secret weapon. Reconnect with your old network, showcase your skills, and alert employers that you are open to job offers. Learn tips for using LinkedIn effectively, including how to handle gaps in your employment history.  This session coveres LinkedIn Profile basics, including:

This workshop, taught by a marketing expert who has built her business around coaching executives on how to use LinkedIn, will get you using this powerful professional network like a pro. Bring your laptop or tablet if you have one (not required).  Attire: business casual.

IMPROVE YOUR INTERVIEW SKILLS & PRACTICE YOUR PITCH

A resume may get you the interview, but the interview gets you the job.  Join us for a morning of interview tips, best practices, and role playing.  We will share what we have learned from our business clients regarding why they choose to hire or reject the candidates they interview.  Learn about the different types of interview formats and questions and how to best respond.  We will share our “Top 10” interview mistakes and “Top 10” easy-to-implement techniques for success.  The second half of the workshop will be devoted to practicing your pitch in a supportive, small group work environment.  This is your opportunity to practice your “30 second elevator speech” and receive honest, constructive feedback in a super low-pressure, safe environment.  Not ready to interview?  That’s OK too.  We still want to meet you, learn about your skills and experiences, and answer your job search questions.  Attire:  business casual.

Many job seekers fail to recognize the critical role that networking plays in the job search process.  Most of us avoid it like the plague.  Instead, we spend hours — unproductive hours — tweaking our resumes and applying for jobs online.  Or we force ourselves to network, and the result is that we feel out of place or lose the confidence that is key to landing a job. This workshop will help you to approach networking in an entirely new way.  You will identify “easy” networking opportunities using a multi-pronged approach and learn how to effectively market your skills and experiences to others.  Learn how to make networking a natural part of what you do, and not just for the purpose of finding a job.
