About Us
Who We Are
We started FlexProfessionals in response to our own struggles trying to find quality part-time work as we returned to the workforce after career breaks. We had strong credentials, solid career track records and ambition. But we quickly discovered that the prospects of landing a rewarding, part-time job were limited not only for us, but for many other professionals sidelined by their need for flexibility, especially returners.
We launched FlexProfessionals in 2010 with the mission of removing the stigma around part-time, remote work, and career breaks and demonstrating and delivering the value of a highly-qualified, untapped talent pool to employers who embrace flexibility and gender-diverse workplaces.
We have been experts in recruiting and flexible staffing for over a decade, well before Covid-19 made the term “remote work” popular. We have brought top talent to thousands of businesses and non-profits in the Washington, DC Metro (including Maryland and Virginia) and Boston Metro areas. We foster deep relationships with our clients with over 96% of them returning or referring us to others in their networks.
We practice what we preach and ensure that every person on our team is empowered to choose WHEN, WHERE and HOW they work. Our first-hand knowledge and experience implementing flexibility has made us extremely effective supporting other organizations in successfully incorporating flexible work models as part of a competitive staffing strategy.
Our Mission
Our mission is to deliver an untapped, highly qualified talent pool seeking rewarding flexible work to employers embracing flexible, supportive, and diverse work environments as part of a competitive talent acquisition strategy. We are committed to successfully matching the needs of both the job seeker and employer.

Commitment to Our Community
We give back to our local communities in DC and Boston by volunteering our time, sharing our expertise, and partnering with local non-profits dedicated to helping unemployed and under-employed women. We do this together as a team, and we also give our employees the flexibility they need to pursue service work that is important to them during the work day. We are proud to have supported 20+ (and counting!) local community organizations!
We are a multi-year recipient of the Northern Virginia Family Service’s CARE Award, which recognizes outstanding companies proactively making the DC region a better place for everyone to work, live, and play.
Since 2015 FlexProfessionals has organized “Back to Work” clothing or toiletry drives so that unemployed and under-employed women can dress confidently as they pursue work. Donations from these drives have supported the clients of four of our community partners: Uncommon Threads in Boston and Women Giving Back, Shelter House, and BritePaths in DC. As part of our efforts, we leverage our extensive network or job seekers and employers, exponentially increasing the impact of our efforts!
Every December our DC and Boston teams adopt a family in partnership with the Tin Cup Foundation (DC) and It’s All About Kids (Boston). Individually and as a company, we purchase toys, clothing, and other gifts. Then we gather for some holiday cheer as we wrap and deliver the gifts.
In 2021, we partnered with Merrimack College and one of our Boston clients, Meteor Learning, to develop and market an on-line accounting certificate program designed for professionals desiring to transition to or advance in the in-demand field of accounting. Since the program’s inception, we have provided scholarships to 5 program participants who otherwise could not afford to participate. We identified these individuals utilizing our own network of job seekers as well as our partnerships with Northern Virginia Family Service’s Training Futures program.
Commitment to Diversity
We are committed to reducing unconscious bias in hiring. We believe in gender-equality, fair pay, and pay equity. While our mission is rooted in gender equality, we recognize the importance of promoting equity across other dimensions, including race and age.
We support working professionals, especially women and caregivers. We help build confidence, create new beginnings, start a second act, or land a dream job. We help employers grow their businesses, seize opportunities, diversify their workforce, and build their dream team. We help create supportive and flexible work environments where employees are productive, engaged, and happy. We are grateful for the thousands of job seekers we support and the employers we serve.
