Boston Workshops

FlexProfessionals offers workshops to support your job search efforts and career-focused information sessions to connect with us and other job seekers.

Regular workshops are 90 minutes long and limited in size to maximize learning, group discussion, and information sharing. They are geared toward professionals who have taken a career break and professionals in career transition. All workshops are designed to provide practical job search resources and an opportunity for job seekers to meet and interact with each other as well as FlexProfessionals staff.

Bootcamps are full-day workshops and cover re-entry strategies, resumes, LinkedIn, networking, and interview tips. These immersive experiences also geared toward those who have taken a career break or are in career transition.  Enrollment is limited to 10 participants.

STRATEGIES FOR RE-ENTERING THE WORKFORCE AFTER A CAREER BREAK

Thinking about re-entering the workforce but not sure where to start? This info-packed session is for you! You will learn about today’s job market and hiring trends, top challenges re-entry professionals face and ways to address them, useful online resources to help you explore careers and update or maintain your skills, effective job search strategies for professionals like you, and many other tips for re-entering the workforce after a career break, including how to transition to a new career. Our goal is for you to leave this workshop energized and confident to begin your job search! This session is also great for professionals who, having recently left the workforce, are in full caregiver mode but want to maintain their professional identity too. Attire: business casual.

TWO-PART SERIES: DEVELOP A COMPELLING RESUME (PART I) & RESUME REVIEW (PART II)

Part I of this workshop consists of a morning of resume tips, strategies and best practices that will help you catch the attention of a hiring manager. We will break down the resume development process step by step, and you will leave this workshop with lots of concrete resources from which to write a compelling and current resume.

Part II of the workshop will take place one week later, allowing you time to work on your resume using strategies, tips, and resources introduced in Part I of the workshop. Each participant will sign up for a 30 minute, in-person meeting to review their individual resume and discuss issues and concerns specific to their career story. You may come with a “final draft,” “work in progress,” or no resume at all.  We will discuss your skills, experiences and work preferences and make suggestions for how to best promote yourself in a resume format.  A link to a resume review sign-up schedule will be emailed to you a few days prior to the workshop, and review times will be confirmed at the workshop.

If you’re wondering whether you need a LinkedIn profile for your job search, the answer is yes! Join us for a small group workshop on how to best use LinkedIn to find professional opportunities, grow your connections, and be searchable online. This is a working session, so please bring a laptop, tablet or smartphone to use. Don’t have a profile yet? No worries. Sign up for a LinkedIn account before the workshop and we’ll help you start to build your profile and give you the tools you need to keep working on it and grow your network!

TAKING THE WORK OUT OF NETWORKING

Many job seekers fail to recognize the critical role that networking plays in the job search process.  Most of us avoid it like the plague.  Instead, we spend hours — unproductive hours — tweaking our resumes and applying for jobs online.  Or we force ourselves to network, and the result is that we feel out of place or lose the confidence that is key to landing a job. This workshop will help you to approach networking in an entirely new way.  You will identify “easy” networking opportunities using a multi-pronged approach and learn how to effectively market your skills and experiences to others.  Learn how to make networking a natural part of what you do, and not just for the purpose of finding a job.

IMPROVE YOUR INTERVIEW SKILLS AND PRACTICE YOUR PITCH

A resume may get you the interview, but the interview gets you the job.  Join us for a morning of interview tips, best practices, and role-playing.  We will share what we have learned from our business clients regarding why they choose to hire or reject the candidates they interview.  Learn about the different types of interview formats and questions and how to best respond.  We will share our “Top 10” interview mistakes and “Top 10” easy-to-implement techniques for success.  Participants will have an opportunity to practice their “30-second elevator speech” in a supportive, small group environment and receive honest, constructive feedback.  Not ready to interview?  That’s OK too.  We still want to meet you, learn about your skills and experiences, and answer your job search questions.

CAREER RE-ENTRY BOOTCAMP: ONE DAY IMMERSION

Are you a motivated job-seeker looking to quickly jump-start your career? Join us for this one-day immersion workshop where we will cover re-entry strategies, resume building, top LinkedIn tips, practicing your pitch, and interview best practices. This day-long boot camp combines content from our individual workshops into one, action-packed day. Tuition includes a light lunch, online career assessment and 30-min follow-up session with FlexProfessionals to work individually on the topic of your choice (for example, LinkedIn profile or resume review, assessment results, career transition feedback, etc). Minimum of six registrations required; maximum group size of 10.
