Rate: $90-120K salary depending on experience, plus excellent benefits

Job Description: Seeking a Strategic Communications Project Manager to join Strategic Communications and Integrated Marketing practice. The right individual has a strong background in content creation, task and client management, outreach and partnership development, and strategic communications. The ideal candidate should have significant experience in successfully managing multifaceted communications campaigns involving advertising, earned media, digital/social media and other components. They should be a strong strategist, writer and manager of projects, teams and partners. They must also be committed to providing superior service, poised under fast-paced pressure, and have a positive and flexible attitude.


  • Manage nationwide internal and external communications campaigns
  • Lead communications and research activities such as communications planning, stakeholder assessment, materials and marketing collateral development, focus groups and interviews, partnership development, outreach, website management, program evaluation, and/or social media
  • Work directly with clients to design and create communications marketing programs that accomplish established objectives and leverage a wide variety of marketing tools, methods and strategies
  • Lead development of materials such as communication plans, fact sheets, FAQs, website content, video scripts, talking points, newsletters, and email messages to support campaigns
  • Help plan and execute events such as press conferences, satellite media tours, media briefings and editorial board meetings Coordinate, track, monitor, and evaluate communications and marketing activities
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with clients
  • Coordinate projects and activities with other departments, partner organizations, external spokespeople/influencers and other stakeholders.
  • Generate creative and original ideas for reaching and engaging target audiences and communicating key messages
  • Manage matrixed project teams of communication analysts, graphic designers, and writers
  • Maintain project documentation and financials, including project schedule and budget
  • Lead business development activities and proposal development


Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree required preferably in strategic communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
  • 7 to 10 years of professional experience
  • Experience with government contracting required
  • Exceptional strategic planning and project/team management skills and ability to implement communications and marketing activities, including developing communications plans, strategies, messages, and tactics as part of an outreach or education campaign
  • Experience managing teams of people, as well as contracts and projects
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills, with the ability to distill complex information into compelling messages
  • Creative and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills
  • Acute attention to detail for error-free, flawless products
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of business development and proposal writing
  • Familiarity with the concepts of change management
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Able to manage and deliver on multiple projects/priorities at the same time
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
  • Preference will be given to qualified Veteran candidates

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master's Degree or advanced Certification in Business Administration, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience with Human Centered Design or Finance
