Sterling, VA based analytics and clinical services company dedicated to improving medication use is looking for a Corporate paralegal
 

Hours/Schedule:  Full time Flex, occasional meeting on site in Sterling,VA as needed 

Job Type: Contract to Hire

Location Requirements: Remote with an occasional on site in Sterling, VA as needed (if the candidate is in the Boston area the trip to Sterling would be a few times a year)

Rate: $38/hour as temp to perm or a base salary of $80,000 plus benefits if convert

 
Job Description: The Paralegal will assist the legal department with legal, corporate, compliance and transactional matters and will also handle other related projects as directed by the General Counsel. The paralegal will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks including legal entity management, corporate filings, contract and document preparation and review; intellectual property portfolio management, insurance program management and compliance program support.

 
Responsibilities:  
 

  • Prepare, submit, and maintain the company’s corporate filings, business registrations and licenses in compliance with federal and state laws
  • Assist with preparation of board, board committee and other meeting materials
  • Assist with maintaining intellectual property (IP) filings and management of the IP portfolio
  • Manage the company’s insurance program, including renewal process, obtaining certificates of insurance and interfacing with insurers, brokers, and other stakeholders
  • Support the company’s Chief Privacy Officer and Information Security Officer in maintaining data privacy and security policies and procedures and responding to third party audits
  • Assist in-house legal counsel by drafting, reviewing, and managing legal contracts, correspondence, and other documents (typically from templates or samples)
  • Manage contract template process, including systematic reviews of templates
  • Manage the contract review, approval, and signatory process
  • Responsible for reviewing, tracking, and monitoring legislation that impacts the company’s products and/or processes
  • Updating leadership with timely analysis and summaries of new legislation/regulations affecting the business
  • Meets with legal counsel, clients, and other stakeholders to discuss assigned projects
  • Perform legal and factual research; perform records research
  • Organize, manage and maintain legal department files in compliance with record retention and destruction requirements, policies and procedures
  • Respond to Requests for Information
  • Assist with ethics and compliance programs
  • Assist with other legal and corporate projects as necessary

 

Qualifications:  
 

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required, Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred
  • Paralegal certificate required
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience as a paralegal in a legal department or law firm or as a legal assistant in a corporate setting, preferably a corporate healthcare setting
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, processes, and other related matters
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis
