Professional medical society representing one of the most innovative, exciting and competitive specialties in medicine, located in Fairfax, is in need of full-time Development Manager to cover a maternity leave beginning September 3, 2024. 

Hours/Schedule: Full-time, flexible schedule. This contract will start September 3 and run through January 2025.  Possibility for extension beyond January.

Rate: $30-35/hour 

Job Description: Reports to the Director of Development, Individual Giving, and will be instrumental in supporting various development activities, including giving circles, donor database management, and event coordination. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in nonprofit development while contributing to the organization's fundraising goals during a temporary period.

 
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the organization and execution of Giving Circles by implementing plans and maintaining communication with members
  • Implement stewardship practices within the Giving Circles, ensuring transparent management of funds, fostering donor relationships, and maximizing the impact of contributions towards the designated causes
  • Support daily operations of the donor database, ensuring accuracy, processing tasks, and tracking progress
  • Help implement relationship management tools within the database for enhanced donor engagement
  • Compile data and generate reports as necessary to support campaigns and initiatives
  • Communications responsibilities to include:

o   Monitor Development email to make sure all questions are answered, and donations are being directed to the correct fund

o   Aid in crafting email updates for GCAW members regarding Giving Circle updates, application deadlines, and review periods

o   Support strategic communication plans for various GCAW membership tiers, GCAW applicants, Pioneer Circle, Founders Society and The Giving Edge event

o   Maintain personal, regular communication with annual donors through effective donor communications and the timely acknowledgement and recognition of support

o   Aid in executing a stewardship program calendar, maintaining regular communication with annual donors

  • Event and Initiative Coordination to include

o   Support the development of materials for Gala 2025 Nashville and coordinate Gala communications and marketing plans.

o   Giving Edge event Marketing materials, vendor contracts, guest management, and ticketing website management. 

o   Pull corporate participants as well as individual participants attending EDGE event in October.

o   Assist in evaluating GCAW applicants with the research and grants team using Survey Monkey Apply

o   Contribute to cultivating relationships with external partners for potential partnerships with GCAW

o   Collaborate with others for opportunities to partner with GCAW

o   Plan meetings and recipient updates for giving circle member

  • Database Management responsibilities to include:

o   Collaborate with the development team to manage the Wrike project management system and update task descriptions and deadlines

o   Ensure website materials accurately reflect current Giving Circle members and foundation donors

o   Support in the migration to DonorPerfect and assist in day-to-day database operations, fulfilling list requests, and maintaining data integrity

Qualifications:  

  • 5 Years of experience in fundraising and development
  • Demonstrated ability to work with donors, understanding the relationship and full lifecycle of engagement
  • Collaborative team player
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including donor management software; familiarity with DonorPerfect, Wrike and Sharepoint is preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
