Government Contractor in Falls Church seeks full-time, flex Full Stack Developer

Hours/Schedule:  Full-time, flexible.

Job Description: The Full Stack Developer will design, build, or maintain web sites and applications using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media. The Developer will maintain existing software and web applications; provide clear, detailed descriptions of web site specifications such as product features, activities, software, communication protocols, programming languages, and operating systems software and hardware. The Full Stack Developer will develop and maintain databases as needed and maintain hosting environments. The Full Stack Developer will create efficient and effective customer outreach and communications mechanisms through websites; confer with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, or choose solutions. The Developer will communicate activities and technical accomplishments to customer.

 
Responsibilities:  

 

  • Lead and provide oversight of all website, application, and software development.
  • Plan, manage, and execute website and application development tasks from start to finish.
  • Use modern web development tools and languages to modify and maintain previously developed websites as well as develop and manage new websites and online applications.
  • Work directly with graphic and web designers on website assets and website layouts.
  • Work directly with clients and in coordination with teams to execute tasks that accomplish established objectives and leverage industry leading methods and strategies.
  • Create and present storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes of ideas for project teams and clients.
  • Plan, design, develop, execute, and maintain websites, applications, and software that meet 508 compliance standards.
  • Ensure consistent branding on all materials prior to client delivery.
  • Collect and analyze website metrics via Google Analytics and provide recommendations for website improvement.
  • Implement and maintain secure, shared hosting environments.
  • Implement and maintain SVN, CVS, Git or other version control systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain website databases.
  • Document and report on all website development activities.
  • Act as visual storyteller, offering creative solutions based on written and visual content.
  • Maintain strong awareness of changes in website trends, tools, technologies and advancements in industry.
  • Think critically and apply customer and industry insight to solve client problems creatively and quickly.

 

Qualifications:  
 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working for a Creative Agency, PR/Marketing Agency, communications and marketing practice, government and/or government contractor, or non-profit
  • Excellent samples of work must be available electronically for review
  • Demonstrated experienced in full stack development
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing web servers for closed development teams, client access and; including access control and file management (i.e., FTP)
  • Demonstrated experience working with and maintaining servers (Nginx or Apache) and experience in Linux; familiarity and experience with IIS and .NET environment is desired
  • Demonstrated experience of server-side programming languages, such as PHP, ASP, .Net, Python, Ruby
  • Expert in multiple content management systems (Moveable Type: *.MTML template language; TeamSite: *.ASP; Drupal: *.PHP) including content entry, editing, workflow, and publishing to be able to evaluate efficiency of platforms, manage content changes, troubleshoot, and recommend critical changes as required
  • Demonstrated experience developing in an AWS cloud environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Web Application User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) development
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML 5, CSS3, ASP, Java Script, Bootstrap 3 and third-party libraries such as React Js, Angular, jQuery, and/or LESS.
  • Demonstrated proficiency coding forms and video players
  • Demonstrated expertise in CSS and developing responsive websites
  • Demonstrated experience testing web browser compatibility
  • Demonstrated experience with DBMS technology, including SQLServer, Oracle, MongoDB and MySQL and caching mechanisms such as Redis, Memcached and Varnish
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and utilizing NPM, Brew, Yum and other contemporary package management tools
  • Demonstrated experience developing front end website architecture
  • Demonstrated experience designing user interactions on web pages
  • Demonstrated experience developing back end website applications
  • Demonstrated experience programming with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Demonstrated experience using JavaScript libraries
  • Experience implementing WCAG accessibility features for 508 compliance
  • Proven ability to produce low-to-hi fidelity prototypes for interactive websites
  • Experience in applying best practices in Information Architecture and User Interface design
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in team setting or independently
  • Willingness and ability to share knowledge and skills with colleagues to advance the overall company position and support structure.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and deliver multiple complex projects/priorities and keep them on deadline
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence

  • Prior government contractor experience
  • Experience using version 6.0.3 with Community Pack 2.02, Professional Pack 1.82 for Moveable Type CMS
  • Experience in health, benefits, IT communications and/or with Veteran and/or military audiences
  • Experience with Human Centered Design and/or conducting user research and/or testing
  • Section 508 compliance experience
