Help Desk – Tier I

Non-profit in Washington DC is seeking contract, PT, Help Desk Tier support for three months. 
 

Hours/Schedule:  15 hours per week with one day onsite for three months. In the beginning, will need to be onsite three days a week for training

Rate: $25 – $30/ hour 

 
Job Description: DC non-profit seeks a Tier 1 help desk support to back up its current IT vendor for three months. 

 
Responsibilities:  
 

  • Windows Active Directory & Microsoft 365 Environment experience
  • Providing guidance and technical support to users of hardware and software.
  • Installing or fixing hardware and software.
  • Troubleshooting user issues.
  • Manning the help desk.
  • Assistance with maintaining networks and computer systems.
  • Assisting in the daily operations of the IT department in conjunction with current IT vendor.
  • Collaborating with current IT vendor to install hardware and troubleshoot computer issues.
  • Responding to IT questions from company employees.
  • Computer setups for new staff / or new computer orders for current staff.
  • Onboarding new staff to laptop/systems as needed.
  • Organizing IT equipment inventory.
  • Updating current asset list.
  • Assisting w/any equipment recycling needs.
  • Opportunity for additional projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:  

  • Prior experience in a Tier 1 helpdesk or technical support role is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic understanding of desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and common software applications.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented approach.
  • IT-related certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+) are a plus.
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures while adapting to changing user needs.
