A growing boutique intellectual property law firm is seeking a Legal Secretary. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively alongside other experienced IP professionals, including paralegals and IP Administrators, IP attorneys, and registered patent agents.
 

Hours/Schedule: Full time, flex

Job Type: Contract to Hire

Location Requirements: Remote, but must reside in the DMV

Rate: $35/ hour

Job Description: Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively alongside other experienced IP professionals, including paralegals and IP Administrators, IP attorneys and registered patent agents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with docketing and reporting incoming USPTO and international correspondence; preparing and filing documents at the USPTO; preparing and managing PCT application filing; preparing formal documents, coordinating proper legalization of documents for international filings; maintaining complete and accurate electronic files; monitor the daily docket and corresponding with clients and foreign counsel regarding deadlines and status of applications.
  • Perform all assignments in strict compliance with ethical guidelines governing the practice of law and firm standard procedures, and
  • Work within and among practice teams and the firm to facilitate efficient and effective delivery of legal services with excellent client service.
     

Qualifications:

  • Excellent academic credentials and strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Preferred is 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience, a paralegal certification, or a 4-year college degree.
