Association in Alexandria, VA dedicated to improving societal health is looking for a Manager, Development to lead their team, manage the current portfolio and grow their donor base.

Job Description: This position reports to the CEO and leads a small fundraising team to increase the donor base while maintaining the portfolio of major donors and prospects. The Manager is the lead fundraising strategist and project manager, who will design, manage, and execute fundraising plans.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a liaison between the foundation and committees supporting development and communications
- Creates committee agendas, tracks committee/staff tasks and facilitates meetings
- Identifies, builds relationships, and solicits and closing major and planned gifts
- Manages portfolio of 50-80 major individual donors and select corporate relationships
- Develops and oversees individual giving strategy and the processes needed for success
- Works collaboratively with the team to develop the annual fundraising plans and budget
- Creates strategies to grow current annual fundraising efforts as well as new streams of revenue to achieve organizational goals
- Attends board and committee meetings, provides regular updates on development activities; makes presentations, provides reports, and tracking documents
- Works effectively with and manages relevant volunteer committees.
- Provides strategic insight, counsel, data, and intelligence to unit leader and executive leadership as appropriate on best practices
- Research through briefings, updates, reports, and presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 6+ years’ experience in related professional level position. CFRE or comparable certification a plus.
- A strong understanding of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices in the nonprofit sector
- Demonstrated ability to personally solicit major gifts from identification to cultivation to solicitation to stewardship. Campaign experience a plus.
- Must have a strong work ethic with excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
- Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring development teams
- Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Leadership and team building skills to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, committees, and the Board of Trustees
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Serves as a role model for strategic use of donor database and screening / prospecting tools
- Competence in software systems such as, Crescendo, Asana, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
- Raiser’s Edge or other nonprofit database experience required
- Travel will be required quarterly
