Math Lead Teacher

Educational company in Virginia that provides youth hands-on STEAM programs that build skills for greater success in school and their professional journey is looking for a Lead Math Teacher to run an after-school program at an elementary school that will start in the Fall of 2025. We are actively looking for interested candidates now.

Hours/Schedule: Two days a week for 1.5 hours onsite from 4-5:30pm and a few additional hours of preparation remotely

Job Type: Contract

Location Requirements: Location will differ throughout Northern Virginia

Rate: $47/hour 

Job Description: The individual will act as a lead math teacher. The teacher will teach, manage, oversee, and coordinate all activities associated with the company’s curated programs at designated elementary school(s). The program involves approximately fifteen girls. The numbers of girls in the program at each location are subject to reasonable change at the discretion of the company.

Responsibilities: 

  • Teach, manage, oversee, and coordinate all activities associated with the designated math programs at respective elementary school(s) in Prince William County, Virginia.

  • Provide daily math instruction twice a week.

  • Teach the girls specified advanced and accelerated math curriculum.

  • Grade students’ assessments (e.g., tests and quizzes) and track their academic progress.

  • Introduce the girls in the program to a group of diverse women pursuing STEAM degrees and/or working in STEAM professional careers in a series of monthly speaker sessions.

  • Manage the entirety of a speakers program. Advise and secure speakers, and schedule, manage, and carry out these speaker sessions.

  • Attend and assist with planning and conducting an evening Family STEAM Event with families and participating students.

  • Hold graduation for students and their families to commensurate Program closeout.

  • Manage students’ behavior, create a safe and respectful classroom environment, and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school administration.

  • Ability to manage a classroom of children effectively 

Qualifications:  

  • Mathematics teaching experience is required 

  • A couple of years of classroom experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage a classroom and teach appropriate curriculum

  • The candidate should be well-organized, committed, energetic, and punctual.

  • Ability to travel to location(s) as listed above
