Small IT government contractor seeking virtual Network Engineer for FT Flex position 

Hours/Schedule:  Full-time (40 hours/week), flexible

Job Description: Network Engineer will establish and maintain network performance, build net configurations and connections, and troubleshoot problems.

Configure, deploy, backup, and upgrade routers, switches, and wireless access points
Troubleshoot application issues such as Office 365, Exchange, Skype/Teams, SharePoint, Mobile Device Management platform, VMWare, Hyper-V, NetBackup, NetApp, HPE Servers, Dell Servers, Web applications, HTTP(S), SMB, CIFS, Printing, Remote Desktop, etc.
Identify and troubleshoot issues with DNS, DHCP, PXE, DMVPN, 802.1x, ARP, SNMPv3, Syslog, NTP, VLAN Tagging, Spanning-Tree. 
Remotely configure, deploy, and upgrade:

  • Cisco switches and routers – IOS, IOS-XE, Nexus NX-OS. 
  • Fortinet devices – Fortigate/FortiSwitch/FortiAP/FortiOS.
  • HP/Aruba wireless devices.
  • Infoblox DDI.
  • F5 Load Balancers. 
  • Forescout CounterACT



  • 5+ years of experience as a network engineer 
  • CCNA required or must be obtained within 6 months.
  • Must have a solid understanding of OSI model and TCP/IP model.
  • Must have a solid understanding of IPv4 – Subnetting, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, GRE, IPSEC, Access Lists, Etherchannel/Link Aggregation, VLAN.
  • Must have a solid understanding of IPv6 – Subnetting, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, GRE, IPSEC, Access Lists, Etherchannel/Link Aggregation, VLAN, SLAAC, EUI-64.
  • Must be able to work independently with remote users to resolve issues.
  • Must be able to work follow the Change Management process.
  • Must be able to create clear and accurate documentation for all work, incidents, outages, and standard operating procedures.
  • Must be able to create and update diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and implement FISMA, NIST, DISA STIG, and IRM requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Must be federal tax compliant and be subject to periodic tax compliance validation.
  • Must pass a drug test with negative result and be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain a federal Public Trust background investigation with Suitability/Fitness process and a position sensitivity at the level of High Risk (HR), which includes an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
