Small, woman-owned government contractor in Alexandria, VA seeks a bookkeeper and office manager to work approximately 20 hours per week.

Job Title: Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Company: Small woman-owned Government Contractor with 20 employees

Location: Alexandria, VA (currently all work is virtual, but when restrictions are lifted in 2021, most hours are on-site)

Job Type: Temp to perm, this is a permanent part-time opportunity

Hours/Schedule: 20-25 hours/week, flexible schedule. Ideal candidate will want to grow in hours over time.

Rate: $25-$30/hour

Job Description: Office Manager/Bookkeeper will work with members of the team in VA, NC, and DC, as well as with clients. Responsibilities will include basic bookkeeping as well as HR support and office management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, have strong and professional communication skills,


  • Entering vendors and bills into Quickbooks
  • Assisting with employee timekeeping
  • Creating monthly client invoices in Excel
  • Receiving customer payments and making bank deposits
  • Setting up new projects in Quickbooks
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Managing benefit enrollment for employees
  • Training employees in corporate policies
  • Creating reports for management


  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • 2+ years of Quickbooks experience
  • Understanding of government contracting/job costing
  • Understanding accrual based accounting (including managing prepaid expenses)
  • Microsoft 365 experience
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience in small business environment
  • Subcontractor Management experience preferred
  • Quickbooks Certification and proficiency in Sharepoint a plus
