Job Description: Seeking an efficient, proactive, and detail-oriented part-time Payroll Specialist. This role will oversee the organization’s payroll functions within Paycor and handle the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with government regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll systems to maintain payroll accuracy, track employee compensation, and support organizational financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Process payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Maintain and review payroll records and reports.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and best practices.
- Conduct quarterly audits and implement necessary corrections.
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.
- Track employee work hours, wages, compensation, and leave balances.
- Process payroll payments through electronic systems or issue paychecks.
- Ensure accuracy in tax deductions and benefits payments.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and supervisors.
- Generate reports for upper management and finance teams.
- Train new hires on timekeeping, payroll procedures, and expense submissions.
- Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll-related experience is required.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or Payroll Manager.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll law and payroll processing, including balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software (e.g., Paycor, Paylocity).
- Must have a recent working knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations.
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
