Non-Profit whose mission supports working with women in the African American community in funding charitable and educational programs is looking for a part-time Senior Accounting Manager to lead their small accounting team

Hours/Schedule:  20 hours/week

Location Requirements:  Hybrid , 1-2 days weekly onsite in their office in Washington, DC

Rate:  $50-55/hour

Job Description: Looking for a Senior Accounting Manager who is well-versed in non-profit accounting to include working with 501 (c)(3) organization
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for the financial operations of the Foundation. 
  • Oversight of the following financial operations:  bank reconciliations, donor management and reconciliations, financial reports, fiscal compliance, journal entries, credit card usage and reconciliation, fixed asset depreciation, annul budget preparation, and payroll.
  • Ensure that accounts payable aging reports are prepared and vendor information for tax reporting purposes and financial documentation for transactions are maintained.
  • Responsible for working with external auditors to complete annual audit and 990 report.
  • Oversee the financial work of the Finance Team including the senior accountant, accountant, donor management specialist and bookkeeper
  • Perform other financial related projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.  Master’s in a business discipline preferred
  • The incumbent must possess strong financial analysis, problem solving, and analytical skills.  The incumbent must also be comfortable with taking initiative and be creative and resourcefulness. 
  • A strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principle (GAAP)
  • Five to Eight years of finance experience. 
  • Previous financial experience in a not- for- profit membership environment is required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.  
  • Fluency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and Power Point.   
  • Previous experience with Donor Management systems and Expense Processing Systems a plus.
