B.J. has 15+ years of experience as a copy editor, production editor, and proofreader for private firms and peer-reviewed professional journals. He is currently an Independent Consultant and provides writing and editing expertise to 3 ongoing clients, mainly working on projects involving the development of educational curriculum. From 2000-2004, he was Test Editor and Special Projects Director for a nonprofit testing service. From 1983-1997, he was a commissioned Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State, serving in administrative positions abroad (Europe, South America, and Asia) and in DC. He began his career as a newspaper journalist and has published five books on historical subjects. He has a BA in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, OH. He teaches college-level online courses in world history and the social sciences.
