Seasoned Systems Engineer and Technical Writer with an active Secret clearance and 30+ years’ experience working on highly technical DoD, DHS and Intelligence Community (IC) programs and in diverse industries, including unmanned aerial vehicles/systems (UAVs/UASs), personnel recovery/search and rescue, information technology (IT) and aerospace. She currently works as a Senior Systems Engineer and Facility Security Officer (FSO) for a small government contractor, supporting DHS in improving mobile users’ access to required resources. Areas of expertise include analyzing customer requirements, technology gaps and programmatic and technical risks and recommending technical/programmatic paths forward and using her technical writing ability to provide critical, complete and timely information and documentation to a program’s leadership and customers for action, understanding and status. B.S. is an expert in applying systems engineering/systems management processes (SDLC and SELC) to programs at the requirements definition phase through the field testing phase in support of key customer objectives. She develops program schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), Mission Needs Statements (MNS), Concept of Operations (CONOPs), and other reports, specifications and plans and collaborates with internal and external sources. As an FSO, B.S is responsible for employee security training and company security procedures and audits in accordance with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) policies. B.S. holds a Master’s degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island (URI).
