B.S. is a senior-level communications professional with expertise in public relations, marketing, and branding. Throughout her career, she has led communications teams at national associations and nonprofits. She managed all communications activities within specific units of AARP, most recently as Communications Director of the DC State Office from 2013-2016 and also as a Regional Communications Manager from 1989-1994. As National Director of Communications and Brand Strategy at the United Negro College Fund from 2005-2008, she managed the re-branding of its scholarship fund, retaining its iconic tagline “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”. At the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, she was Director of Public Relations from 1999-2005, where she managed a national public awareness campaign featuring actor James Earl Jones. B.S. has served as the Board Chair for the International Association of Business Communicators, a 12,000-member international association. She has skills in media relations, event management, executive communications, and social communications (Facebook, Twitter, Blogs-WordPress). B.S. has a Bachelors in English from Spelman College.
