A.H. has 10+ years of experience as an in-house General Counsel and executive-level officer for public and private biotech and consumer products companies.  From 2011-2013, she served as General Counsel for a private, early-stage nanotechnology company.  From 1998-2010, she served as EVP, General Counsel, and Director at PHLO Corporation and Affiliates, a public biotechnology company working within the beverage industry.  In both roles, she was responsible for all of the legal affairs for early-stage ventures, including drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, raising capital, supervising outside counsel (intellectual property, regulatory, and litigation matters), handling corporate governance, and overseeing extraordinary transactions (mergers & acquisitions).  Her experience has given her the dual, sometimes conflicting, perspectives of attorney and business owner.  Recently, to achieve a more flexible schedule, A.H. has engaged in short-term, legal project work, including drafting and negotiating corporate documents for a law firm, SunEdison, and the Advisory Board Company.  She also served as Contract Author for Thomson Reuters Westlaw, drafting legal content for its online Business Law Advisor.  A.H. began her legal career practicing corporate transactional law and international trade policy at two law firms in Washington, DC.  She is a member of the DC Bar.  She has a BA from New York University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
