J.W. has 9 years of finance and accounting experience, working directly for a nonprofit as well as for a public accounting firm supporting nonprofits. From 2011-2014, she worked for a senior living group with three local communities. After 15 months as the site accountant, she was promoted to the position of Interim Executive Director. In that role, she was responsible for working with the CEO and leadership team to promote community growth and stability; making group presentations to residents; preparing reports for the Board of Directors and investors; and working closely with 10 directors to oversee the staff of 250+ that included nursing, dining, plant operations, life enrichment, resident services, IT and HR departments. In her initial accounting role, she managed cash flow, prepared and monitored the budget, prepared financial statements, and assisted department heads with financial management activities. She started her career working for approximately 5 years for Calibre CPA Group, a regional CPA firm specializing in nonprofits. She started as an Auditor and later became Training and Recruiting Coordinator. Her experience also includes teaching introductory college accounting classes. She has basic knowledge of Quickbooks and intermediate knowledge of MS Excel. She has an inactive CPA and a Masters and Bachelors in Accounting, both from James Madison University.
