Location Requirements: Hybrid, 2-3 days/week at Dulles office

Rate: Salary TBD based on experience, plus benefits 
 
Job Description: The Senior Civil Engineer – Stormwater is responsible for planning, permitting, and designing land development, projects, with a specific emphasis on stormwater management.

Responsibilities:  

  • Working with the project team on all aspects of Stormwater Management projects and land development and site design projects: project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and assurance, and overall project coordination and organization.
  • Preparing and modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, and other design deliverables for the project.
  • Analyzing maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for the design projects
  • Assisting with post-design construction support services to respond to RFI’s, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations.
  • Establishing budgets and labor projections for design tasks
  • Working alongside office staff and management to successfully complete projects within the established budgets and deadlines.
  • Preparing engineering calculations required for the design of projects and coordinating the development of construction drawings.
  • Develop and organize the delivery of project plans and specifications.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Consult with other engineers, architects, landscape architects, environmental scientists, project consultants and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Stormwater Management permitting agencies.
  • Design and permit Civil Construction Projects, focusing on the design and permitting for stormwater management and erosion and sediment control.
  • Coordinating and mentoring junior engineers and engineering techs.

 

Qualifications:  
 

  • 6+ years of progressively increasing experience in the Civil Engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Washington, DC, or be able to obtain one within six months.
  • Knowledge and experience with regional Stormwater Management Authorities, specifically MDE, VDEQ, and DDOE.
  • Experience using engineering design software (MicroStation/InRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and techniques with reference to construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Self-sufficient and flexible person with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others.
