Retailer/Wholesaler of High-End Goods in Northern VA seeks part-time bookkeeper.

Hours/Schedule: 12-15 hours/week. Hours may be worked over 2-5 days/week, but set scheduled is strongly preferred.

Job Type: Contract to hire

Location Requirements: On-site

Rate: $30/hour

Job Description: Provide bookkeeping services for both the retail and wholesale operations of a small family business.


  • A/P – maintains all purchase orders, codes and enters vendor and expense invoices, prepares and distributes vendor payments, and manages payroll
  • A/R – bills customers and clients, maintains follow up to ensure timely receipt of payments and prepares bank deposits
  • Reconciles monthly bank statements
  • Work with Paychex to ensure payroll information is accurate and complete
  • Coordinate with client's CPA firm, providing necessary tax information and other ad hoc requests
  • Backs-up administrator duties including filing, ordering materials and answering incoming client calls (on occasion only)
  • Completes other project responsibilities as assigned



  • QuickBooks Online experience required
  • A/R, A/P experience with a small company, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and customer confidentiality a must
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability and willingness to multi-task and wear multiple hats in a small-office environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple client needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
  • Able to work independently and with little supervision
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • MUST be comfortable around dogs as this is a family business and they bring their dogs to the office
