Job Type: Direct hire

Location Requirements: Hybrid, 2 days onsite in Boston office, 3 days remote

Rate: $90,000-$140,000

Job Description: 
Women-owned construction company seeks a finance leader who can partner with the CEO to strengthen and lead the existing financial processes and infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will work to ensure that all financial growth and operational objectives of the Company are achieved. Successful candidate must possess a sense of urgency and willingness to go above and beyond.

 
Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee accounting functions to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting ledgers, systems, and processes
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements 
  • Responsible for overall maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, along with expense reporting and reconciliations
  • Monitor and manage cash needs of the Company
  • Develop and maintain adequate internal controls to safeguard Company assets
  • Oversee the forecasting and annual budgeting process
  • Maintain accounting system
  • Manage the payroll and accounting for all employee benefits
  • Manage/oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting requirements 
  • Manage/oversee annual Form 1099 reporting 
  • Manage the annual audit process and prepare all supporting schedules
  • Provide training and supervision to program staff as needed
  • Oversee Sales & Use Tax returns preparation
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation audit
  •  Handle required insurance filings
  • Oversee and maintain banking relationships, including checking accounts and corporate credit card administration

Qualifications:  

  • 10+ years of progressive experience at the senior level in a financial and/or operational function
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Experience within the construction industry is preferred
  • Proficient in accounting systems analysis, integration, and trouble shooting; experience with QBO and Procore, a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and communication skills are essential
  • Innovative and strategic, creative thinker. Proven ability to anticipate long-term financial and business developments
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong operational focus and sound judgment with accurate and thorough work habits
  • Resourceful, pro-active, and self-directed
  • Well-coordinated with a desire to work as part of a team in a dynamic small business environment
